CEAA Panel Says Too Many Deficiencies

In December, 2012, the CEAA Panel sent Taseko Mines an 80 page letter outlining 50 significant deficiencies in TML's Environmental Impact Statement, deficiencies that must be addressed before consideration of the project can continue.  This is in addition to a earlier request from the Panel in November, 2012, regarding a major deficiency in the EIS, i.e., the way in which the company assessed the environmental cumulative impact. This finding by the Panel was greatly supported by FONV Director, Dr. Karen Hurley's letter to the Panel.  TML's responded by telling the Panel that "There is no need to complete additonal cumulative effects asessment," and that this request was based on an "apparent technicality".  The Panel had to re-iterate its request for this information and the process remains stalled until the deficiencies list is corrected to the Panel's satisfaction.
