Award for Chief Marilyn

Congratulations to Chief Marilyn Baptiste as one of two indigenous women to receive the "Activist of the Year" award from the Council of Canadians in Nanaimo, B.C.  Chief Marilyn accepted the award on behalf of herself and the Xeni Gwet'in and Tsilhqot'in governments in their tireless struggle against the proposed "New Prosperity" mine.

Xeni Gwet'in councillor Lois Williams said, “We are really proud of her for continuing the fight to protect our environment for so many years. The goal is the same, the fight is the same, and we will protect our territory.”
