Panel Sets the Dates for New Prosperity Mine Hearings

After two rounds of asking for more information from Taseko Mines regarding the "New Prosperity" project, the Panel is now ready to proceed to the Hearings stage on July 22, 2013, in Williams Lake but not without asking Taseko, once again, to answer more Information Requests before July 13, 2013.

In a letter of Sufficiency Information to Taseko's Director of Environment and Government affairs, the Panel "recognizes that differences of views still remain between Taseko and other Interested Parties on a number of issues related to the environmental assessment of the Project and is of the opinion that the information generated as part of the Environmental Impact Statement review will be further developed and clarified through the hearing process. However,in order to allow for an efficient and procedurally fair public hearing, the Panel requests that Taseko respond to the issues in the attached appendix by July 17, 2013."

The Information Requests that Taseko must address are 1) Ground water interaction between Fish Lake and Open Pit and 2) Tailings storage facility; 3) Lake productivity, mitigation and adaptive management; 4) Health effects in the local study area; 5) Country foods; 6) Current navigational use and 7) Additional issues from the Tsilhqot'in National Government.
